Tonight Live

About 1000 episodes of the comedy chat show were produced, with guests including pretty much everyone from Kylie Minogue to Mickey Rooney and from Tom Jones to Alexei Sayle.

Steve Vizard hosted the program, usually studio-based and produced in Melbourne. But Tonight Live also hit the heights of broadcasting from London, New York, Spain, an aircraft carrier, a bowling alley and even Steve Vizard’s own home.

In 1991 Steve Vizard won the Gold Logie for his work on both Tonight Live and Fast Forward and the following year, both shows saw him pick up the Logie for Most Popular Light Entertainment/Comedy Male Performer.

Tonight Live had its own in-house band, The Groovematics, led by jazz pianist and composer, Paul Grabowsky.
